NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 2—Jamia Millia Islamia students Aysha Renna and Ladeeda Farzana, who participated in anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), has issued a legal notice to the right-wing news portal OpIndia which reported that the two students were having terror links and participated in northeast Delhi violence in February this year.
The notice issued by their advocate Amin Hassan K says that a series of stories carried by OpIndia with regard to Renna and Farzana since December 16, 2019 were high;ly defamatory in nature.
The advocate, through the legal notice, has demanded an unconditional apology and Rs. 50 lakh compensation and threatened to initiate proper legal action if the OpIndia fails to comply.
The notice said that the stories published by OpIndia “are a part of the malafide propaganda of the BJP-RSS against the students who are actively questioning and protesting the unconstitutional CAA”.
