NEW DELHI—Jamaat-e-Islami Hind(JIH) has demanded justice to the family 18-year-old Rahul Rajput who was beaten to death on October 7 on allegations of having an affair with a Muslim girl of his area. Rahul was studying his BA(second year) from the Delhi University.

The youth lived in Moolchand Colony in Adarsh Nagar area and also ran a coaching class.

A delegation of the Jamaat led by its Vice-President Engineer Mohammad Salim visited the family of the deceased on Tuesday and demanded strong punishment to the accused and justice to the victim’s family.

Speaking to India Tomorrow, Engr Salim said, “Rahul was the only son of the couple who is no more. We are with the family in their hour of grief. We me the family and tried to console them”.

He said, “Jamaat-e-Islami Hind is with the family of deceased Rahul and is ready to extend all kind of help. We demand stringent of punishment to the accused involved in the case”.

Speaking about increasing incidents of crime, Engr Salim said, “This is a matter of great concern that people are taking law in their own hands. Accused seem to have lost fear of law. We want police to take quick and strict action that will create fear of law among those intending to do crime”.

However, he said, “Some selfish people are unfortunately trying to give a communal colour to the issue. But we would like to appreciate the family of Rahul that they have maintained calm and unemotional behaviour. Without giving a religious or communal colour to the incident, they have demanded action against the guilty persons. This is highly appreciable”
