NEW DELHI–Okhla MLA Amanatullah khan has been elected chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board. He has been elected chairman of the Waqf Board for the third time.

After being elected chairman, Amantullah Khan, while speaking to media, thanked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and all the members of the board. He said that all the halted works of Delhi Waqf Board will start soon.

Amanatullah Khan further said, “After taking charge, the stalled salaries of all the imams, mozzins and widows will be paid in a week”.

Delhi Government’s Revenue Department removed Amanatullah Khan from the post of Chairman of Waqf Board on 20 March this year.

On February 11, 2020, the revenue department objected to Amanatullah Khan remaining active as chairman of the Waqf Board even after the dissolution of the assembly.

The Revenue Department had indicated that Khan was not a member of the Waqf Board under section 14(1) of the Waqf Act, 1995, after the dissolution of the Assembly in February.

The Delhi Waqf Board has been very actively involved in providing relief to victims of the Northeast Delhi riots. There was a lot about the work performed by the Delhi Waqf Board under Amanatullah Khan.
