JANUARY 12—While the Supreme Court on Tuesday suspended the implementation of the three controversial farm laws until further orders and announced to set up a committee to resolve the deadlock between the government and protesting farmers, the Delhi Police has filed an application in the Supreme Court seeking an injunction to prevent a group of farmers taking out a tractor rally to disrupt the Republic Day Parade on January 26.
Submitting that such a rally could be embarrassing for the nation, the Delhi Police said that it could also create law and order problem.
The police also argued that “the right to protest can never include maligning the nation globally”, according to a report of Bar and Bench.
