NEW DELHI—Top Muslim women intellectuals and scholars have unanimously resolved that the Islamic teachings alone can guarantee peace, happiness, salvation, justice, and unflinching social bonding in the world.
They were speaking at an international webinar titled `Strong Family, Strong Society’, organized by the Department of Women, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH).
From Malaysia to the UK and from Italy to Qatar, women from different strata of society shed light on the issues plaguing the family and social system across the globe.
“Family is the primary institution from which all other institutions emerge. If there is no family, there will be no institution. No institution means no society. If there is no society, there will be a jungle of wild forest of unorganized human beings. Family is the first university which teaches love and care,” said Dr. Zeenath Kausar, a top academic and scholar from Malaysia.
Dr. Zeenath was presenting her views on the topic, `Present Scenario of Families across the World’. “There is a decrease in marriage and increase in divorces and non-conventional marriages. These non-conventional marriages include LGBTQ families. The root cause for this is the modern secular philosophy of knowledge. A new thought of feminism is actually trying to separate sexuality and reproductive rights from marriage. For instance, in vitro fertilization and surrogate mothers. It has created non-marital families and adultery,” she said.
Dr. Zeenath said some verses of the Holy Quran are not presented in a holistic manner. She quoted a verse from `Sura al Nisa’ which, she said, has been misinterpreted by many scholars.
Top entrepreneur and scholar from Qatar Shareefa Fadhel shed light on the economic and social scenario of families. Entitled `Impact of Family Condition on Economic, Social and Political Scenario’, her topic focused on husband-wife responsibilities and basics of economics in families.
“Marriage is the binding and joining of two parties beyond two people. It is between two families and two communities. A new brick is laid with every new formation of a family and that is an integral part of society,” she said.
She called for recognizing the value of domestic work, mother, and extended family. “Teach your children the basic economics. It includes roles and responsibilities, planning, savings and investments, and creating a reward system. Women have an important role. If you are a woman, take care. You are an important brick of society like man,” she said.
Dr. Sabrina Lei from Italy presented the topic `Family Life Supports and Safeguards Spiritual and Moral Aspects of Life’. She said India is a symbol of tolerance and harmony. “I pray for Allah’s strength. Peace and justice are important to build a social system which is very dynamic, inclusive, and deeply human,” she said.
Rahamathunnissa, Campaign in-charge and National Co-secretary summed up the three-hour-long webinar with a clarion call for not delaying the marriage.
“Fear Allah. We are to return to him. Maintain good relations with people. Islam is a natural system and let us learn about it. My advice is to get married. There should be no delay. Let us serve humanity and spread the light of Quran and Sunna,” she said.
She said in the name of freedom, people abandon families and values. “In that process, they get enslaved. They get trapped in unwanted relationships. Initially, you get attracted. But once you lose charm and beauty, you realize what went wrong,” she said.
