NEW DELHI—Labour rights activist Nodeep Kaur, who was arrested on charges of attempt to murder and extortion, was granted bail on Friday by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The 23-year-old activist was arrested on January 12 by the Haryana police. The police had claimed that along with other activists, she had gheraoed an industrial unit in Sonipat’s Kundli industrial estate and demanded money from the company.
Kaur, a member of the Kisan Adhikar Sangathan, had alleged that she was tortured in police custody.
