Boricha was beaten to death in his house on March 3, despite police posted outside his house.
According to Boricha’s family members, people from upper caste Kshatriya community beat to death Boricha in his house with iron pipes and swords.
The incident happened on March 3 evening when Boricha and his daughter were standing outside their house. A group of 50 members of the Kashtriya community armed with iron rods, spears and swords came to attack them. Boricha and his daughter sheltered themselves in their house but the men broke open the door and beat Boricha to death. The security posted outside his house failed to protect him.
Boricha’s is the lone Dalit family in Sanodar village dominated by kshatriyas in Ghogha taluka of Bhavnagar district.
According to media reports, some kshatriya community members wanted to grab his agricultural land which led to tension between Boricha and Kshatriyas. A year ago, kshatriyas had grabbed a residential plot belonging to Boricha.
On Friday, Mewani had raised the issue in state assembly and alleged that the PSI was not being arrested because of the pressure from Minister of State for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja. Mewani asked if Jadeja and Chief Minister Vijay Rupani were relatives of the accused that the PSI was not arrested.
