NEW DELHI—Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has condemned the Israeli attack on Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, killing more than one thousand people, mostly women and children. The hospital is run by Protestant Christian missionaries under the supervision of the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.

In his media statement, JIH President Syed Sadatullah Husaini said, “We condemn and express utmost disgust at the heinous bombardment of Al-Ahli Hospital in Central Gaza. Around 1000 are reported to have died in the precincts of the hospital which was full of women and children.”

Jamaat terms the killing of patients and others in the Baptist hospital as a massacre and a crime against humanity.

“Israeli occupying forces are continuously targeting schools and hospitals in clear violation of all war laws and basic human values.  The powerful countries and international bodies who remain silent spectators cannot absolve themselves from the heinous war crimes. They have the blood of the innocent men, women, and children of Palestine on their hands,” the Jamaat leader commented.

The Jamaat chief demanded the implementation of an immediate ceasefire in the region and swift condemnation of the deliberate bombing of civilian areas of Gaza.

“Israeli actions should not go unpunished and its political and military leadership must be actively hunted by the UN and the international community to face trial in the International Court of Justice for the various war crimes they have committed in the recent part. If we fail the Palestinians and do not stop the current carnage, history will never forgive us,” Mr. Husaini said.
