NEW DELHI—Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), one of the top Muslim organizations in India, has appealed to the international community and the United Nations to ensure a permanent ceasefire and impose sanctions on Israel for its atrocities on hapless Palestinians.
The demand was made through a resolution passed at its Central Advisory Council (CAC) meeting held in Gujarat from November 24 to 26.
It also urged the international community to make sincere efforts for an independent Palestinian state to find a just solution to the Palestine issue.
Stating that the Israel attacks on Palestinians from October 7 till a few days ago violated all international laws of war, genocidal killing of civilians and unarmed citizens, especially innocent children and women, indiscriminate bombing of common urban facilities like hospitals amounted to war and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tried in the International Criminal Court.
It said the the recent Israeli aggression has exposed the evil faces of the Zionists, the Unite States and many European countries. The courage with which the Palestinian people have resisted Israel’s aggression and the extraordinary patience they have displayed, are highly commendable.
The JIH CAC also appealed to the international community to reconstruct the areas destroyed by the war and take effective steps to ensure the provision of essential supplies.
Stating that while justice-loving people all over the world have supported the Palestinians people and condem, ned the Israeli aggression, the common people of our country, NGOs, and various media outlets have also fully supported the Palestinian cause.
The CAC also urged the Government of India to play an effective role in the establishment of a Palestinian state through international diplomatic efforts while adhering to the country’s long-standing position on Palestine.
The meeting expressed deep concern over the one-sided, biased and irresponsible reporting of Israeli aggression by some media organizations in the country and drew their attention to the fact that their irresponsible coverage might fan communal disharmony and Islamophobia in the country.
Expressing its serious concern over the decline of democratic and moral values in India’s democratic politics, the JIH advocated for value-based politics in the country.
It also expressed concern over the misuse of central agencies like CBI, ED, Income Tax Department and even the offices of governors by the ruling party to promote their political interests.
