NEW DELHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) president Syed Sadatullah Husaini, has issued a strongly condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Lebanon, characterizing them as “blatant acts of terrorism” and a “gross violation of international humanitarian laws and norms.”

In a media statement, Mr. Husaini remarked, “We unequivocally condemn Israel for escalating the conflict in Gaza by launching indiscriminate strikes on Lebanon. These brutal attacks have resulted in the tragic deaths of over 500 individuals, including 35 children, within a single day, and have left 1,645 others injured. Tens of thousands of innocent civilians have been displaced, leading to a massive humanitarian crisis.”

He also referred to prior “pager attacks,” and “walkie-talkie” sets which, as reported by CNN, were part of a coordinated operation involving Israel’s intelligence and military forces. Mr. Husaini supported their classification as “terror attacks” by various observers, including the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister. He pointed out that Israel is continuously violating international humanitarian principles, particularly those of distinction and proportionality. Despite being a signatory to the ‘Protocol on Mines, Booby-Traps, and Other Devices’ under the ‘Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons,’ Israel has employed booby traps on a catastrophic scale, highlighting the severe threat it poses to global peace.

“It is alarming,” Mr. Husaini added, “that those who once declared a global ‘war on terror’ remain silent in the face of Israel’s state terrorism. This selective and politicized approach to addressing terrorism significantly hinders efforts to eradicate it.”

He warned that Israel’s aggressive actions could further escalate the already devastating conflict in Gaza, jeopardizing long-term peace in the region. Mr. Husaini called upon the international community to take urgent action, enforcing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and holding Israel accountable for its atrocities against Palestinian and Lebanese civilians.

“Without immediate and decisive intervention from the UN and the global community, the entire region risks being drawn into a broader conflict, with catastrophic consequences for the world,” Mr. Husaini concluded.
