Cairo, 25 Jan 2014: At least 10 people were killed and 41 others injured Friday during clashes between supporters of Egypt’s ousted president Mohamed Morsi and the security forces, a government official said.

“The victims are from Giza, Sharqiya, Beni Sweif, Menia, Beheira and Daqahliya governorates,” Xinhua quoted Khaled al-Khatib, head of the health ministry’s emergency central administration, as saying.

At least six people were killed and dozens injured in a wave of blasts that hit Egyptian capital city of Cairo Friday, a day before the third anniversary of the Jan 25 upheaval that toppled former president Hosni Mubarak in 2011.

Anti-government protests are also expected to be staged by Morsi’s loyalists Saturday, while supporters of the government and the military are planning to hold nationwide celebrations.

Since Morsi was removed by military last July, his supporters have been holding protests denouncing his removal as “a coup” and calling for his reinstatement.
