Aurangabad arms haul case accused released after 8 years in jail

Mumbai, 27 Feb 2014: Mushtaque Ahmed, one of the accused in the Aurangabad arms haul case, was released from Arthur Road jail here on Thursday. He is the fourth accused to have been granted bail released. In all the Maharashtra ATS had made 23 Muslims accused in the case.

Mushtaque was granted bail by the special MCOCA court two weeks ago. But it took the local police and Tehseeldar two weeks in verification and completing the procedure for release.

When he came out of the jail his elderly father Mohd Ishaq, other family members and representatives of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind were there to receive him. He wept with joy when he hugged them. Mushtaque belongs to Malegaon district of Maharashtra.

From the jail he went straight to the state office of Jamiat and met its legal cell head Gulzar Azmi and state President Maulana Mustaqeem Ahsan Azami. He thanked them for their support. Jamiat has been fighting their case in the court.

Gulzar Azmi said ATS has made 23 Muslims accused in Aurangabad arms haul case and are behind bars for last eight years. Mushtaque is the fourth accused in this case to have been granted bail and released from jail. He said Jamiat would file bail petition for other accused also.
