The CM applauded the Academy for increasing the share of Kerala in Civil Services since it was launched in February 2005 by the Centre for Continuing Education Kerala, an autonomous body established by the Kerala government. Kerala Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb, Chief Secretary Bharat Bhushan, former Education Minister M.A Baby and chief mentor Babu Paul also featured the program.

Why was Academy established?

The website of the Academy answers the question clearly. It says state candidates were finding it hard to cope with high fees of institutions outside the state. The govt. opened it to help them.

“The Civil Service Aspirants of Kerala find it so difficult to cope with the fee collected by the institutions outside the state and also the climate and food. Their long felt desire was starting of an academy in the public sector in one state itself. That desire was fulfilled by the starting of the Kerala State Civil Service Academy under the Higher Education Department, Government of Kerala. The fee structure of the Academy is relatively low and is affordable to all sections of the society,” reads the website.

Talking about its objective it says the Academy was established by the Government of under the aegis of Centre for Continuing Education Kerala “with the specific objective of giving intensive coaching to the young men and women who aspire for top posts in the country’s civil services…”

The Academy provides all facilities required for a student to reach the final target. The Academy is conducting courses for the preparation for writing the preliminary Examination as well as the Mains Examination.
