New Delhi, 28 June 2015: In his radio broadcast called Mann ki Baat Sunday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained Maun (silent) on the Lalit-Sushma-Vasundhara row even though besides the Opposition, his party patriarch LK Advani has made a veiled comment on the issue and called for probity in public life. For the last 10 days, the opposition backed by favourable investigative media reports has been demanding resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for allegedly helping former IPL chief Lalit Modi who fled India four years ago after money laundering charges surfaced.

“For a politician, to command people’s trust is the biggest responsibility. What morality demands that is ‘rajdharma’ and need to maintain probity in public life,” Advani was quoted as having told the Bengali daily Anandabazar Patrika.

PM Modi has been under pressure for taking action in the Lalitgate but so far he has ignored it.

In today’s Mann ki Baat, he devoted most of the time recalling the 21st June Yoga event. He also talked about monsoon and his newly launched Smart City project. He also assured that his last August promise about toilets in schools will be fulfilled by this coming August.

But he didn’t utter a word on the controversy as if the issue has not touched his conscience.
