Civil groups continue protest against Vasundhara, demand her resignation

Jaipur, 29 June 2015: Today is the third day of protest demonstration by civil groups here demanding resignation of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for allegedly helping former IPL chief Lalit Modi. The Opposition parties led by Congress have already been protesting against Raje and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

The Rajasthan civil groups led by People’s Union for Civil Liberties held today’s protest demonstration at Gaurav Towers. The protestors were shouting slogans against Raje. Yesterday they held the demonstration at Ambedkar Circle.

“All raised their voice that for an objective investigation of the misuse of power by Raje, where she signed an affidavit requesting the UK Government to help a fugitive and stating that it kept under wraps, along with all the deals between Lalit Modi, Dushyant Singh, she needs to resign,” said Kavita Srivastava, State Secretary of PUCL.

The protest demonstration was also participated by members of Forum for Democracy and Communal Amity, Association for Protection of Civil Rights and Welfare Party of India.

“Had there been a strong Lokpal law with the PM also under its jurisdiction, then this matter could have been investigated by the Lokayukta,” said Er. Rashid Hussain, state president of Welfare Party who also took part in the protest.
