New Delhi, 08 July 2015: The Delhi High Court has today agreed to hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking vacation of 990 waqf properties and issued a notice to the Revenue Dept. of Delhi Government seeking their response within four weeks. The PIL was filed by Delhi High Court lawyer Adv. Shahid Ali. The next hearing is scheduled for Sept.

Adv. Ali said that the court was angry at the attitude of the Revenue Secretary and said that if laws are not implemented then there is no use of making laws in parliament. The court further said, Adv. Ali informed, that the petitioner and CEO of Wakf Board had asked the SDM to vacate the waqf properties but the officer did not take any action.

Meanwhile, the Wakf Board has requested the court to reject the petition as it was itself pursing the case. However, the court asked the board what it has done so far in this case as it is pending since 2006.
