Ahmedabad, 20 Aug 2015: Dismissed Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt has termed as “sham, ex parte” the inquiry following which the central government decided to dismiss him from the services.

Reacting on his dismissal, Bhatt said: “The Government of the day has decided to remove me from service after conducting a sham, ex parte inquiry on completely fabricated charges of ‘unauthorised absence from duty’. Mind you, this so-called ‘unauthorised absence from duty’ pertains to the period when I was deposing before the SIT (investigating into the Zakia Jafri complaint) and the Nanavati Commission (inquiring into the Gujarat riots).”

“Be that as it may, the bottom-line is that if the Government of the day does not require my services…so be it. I pray to God that He may continue to kindle and stoke the passion and fire that has possessed me all these years. May He continue to lead me in my just pursuits,” said Bhatt in a post on his facebook page around 10 PM on 19th Aug.

Gujarat IPS Officer Sanjiv Bhatt was dismissed from services by the Union Home Ministry late Wednesday. Bhatt was suspended couple of years ago. Bhatt had acccused the then Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi for the Gujarat riots 2002.

He also talked about why he had joined the IPS.

“At the age of 24, with a passion and fire that still continues to rage in me, I chose the Indian Police Service because I saw it as a career that would add action and purpose to my life. And I have not been disappointed one bit. In fact, I have enjoyed every moment of the last 27 years in the IPS…”

Following his dismissal, Bhatt also made some tweets.

In one of them in lighter mood, he said he has now again become eligible for employment.

“Finally removed from service today after serving 27 years in the Indian Police Service. Once again eligible for employment. 🙂 Any takers?”.
