Religion census data: One-minute read to remove all confusions

New Delhi, 26 Aug 2015: While a section of media said population of Muslims in India is increasing and population of Hindus is decreasing some others wrote that Muslim population growth rate is falling – this all might be creating confusions. The text and table below may remove all such confusions.

According to Census 2011 data on religious communities:

— Population of both Hindus and Muslims has gone up.
— Growth rate of both Hindus and Muslims has gone down.
— Population percentage of Hindus has come down from 80%, first time in history.
— Growth rate of Muslims has come down to 24%, first time in history.
— Population percentage of Muslims has continued going up.
