New Delhi, Feb 18: The National Human Rights Commission has sought report from the Union Home Secretary and Delhi Police over the attack on journalists at the premises of Patiala House court on Monday and Wednesday.
“Some teachers and students of JNU and journalists were assaulted by some lawyers in the presence of the police… The incident involves serious violation of Human rights. Hence, the Home Secretary, Govt. of India; Commissioner of Police, Delhi and Chief Secretary, Govt. of NCT are directed to submit urgent report within a week,” said NHRC in a statement on Wednesday.
In a separate notice, the rights body has also sought report over police action in JNU following the Feb 9 event where some anti-national slogans were allegedly raised by students.
