Raipur, March 07: Seven people were reportedly arrested late Sunday night for the attack on a church and thrashing congregants here earlier in the day. According to NDTV, the men were tracked through the three motorbikes recovered from the spot.

Meanwhile, the Union Home Ministry has already asked for a report on the incident from the state government of Chhattisgarh. “”The administration has taken action and the culprits will not be spared,” junior home minister Kiren Rijiju was quoted by the TV channel as saying.

Arjun Pannalal, president of Chhattisgarh’s Christian Forum, had filed a complaint with the police. He had alleged that the miscreants were activists of Bajrang Dal and they were raising slogans of “Jai Shri Ram”.

The attackers who were around 25 in number reportedly ransacked the church and beat up congregants including some women during the prayer.
