IndiaTomorrow.net,
Bhopal, July 30: Even as the BJP government of Madhya Pradesh is in the line of fire from national opposition parties for the Tuesday assault of two Muslim women by cow vigilantes for carrying beef at the Mandsaur railway station, the state administration, in a separate case, has reportedly invoked NSA (National Security Act) against two Muslim men for allegedly carrying beef in Ratlam. The law allows preventive detention up to a year.

According to The Indian Express, the two Muslim men Sadam Ayub, 26, and Jafar Ruaab, 30 were held on 22nd July in Ratlam district on suspicion of carrying beef. More than two quintals of meat was allegedly recovered from them. Even though the district administration said the meat was beef, NSA has been invoked against them.

The English daily quoted CSP Deepak Shukla as saying: “It was almost confirmed that the meat was beef but we are waiting for final report.”

The police have justified the invocation of the NSA saying the duo was involved in carrying beef in the past, and on one occasion it had resulted in a communal clash.
