New Delhi, September 4: Concerned with regular court verdicts in cases related to Muslim Personal Law and in order to minimize misreading of the Shariat law, India’s eminent Muslim body has decided to launch a training course exclusively for lawyers. The course aims to educate the lawyers about the details and complexities of the Muslim Personal Law so that judges get right information and deliver judgements accordingly.

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind organized the inaugural program of “Training Course in Muslim Personal Law” at its headquarters here on Sunday. A number of lawyers from different parts of the country attended the inaugural whose chief guest was Justice AM Ahmadi, former chief justice of Supreme Court. Eminent Islamic jurists and Ulama trained the lawyers.

Explaining the purpose of the training program, Abdul Hameed Noumani, Press Secretary, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind said: “This course has been designed for advocates in the backdrop of lack of awareness and misunderstanding about many of the provisions related to the Muslim Personal Laws.”

Lawyers and intellectuals attending inaugural of Training Course in Muslim Personal Law launched by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind in New Delhi on 4 Sep 2016.

He said most of the lawyers who handle cases of Muslim Personal Law are not properly educated with the law.

“Our lawyers who handle such cases are not properly educated and trained in the handling of the related issues. They are unable to inform the courts which are the primary duty as the officers of the court. The courts develop this understanding and deliver judgements as per the information supplied to them by the concerned advocates,” said Noumani.

Besides Justice Ahmadi, Adv. Zafaryab Jilani, former additional solicitor general of Uttar Pradesh, also attended the event which was presided over by Jamiat president Maulana Qari M Usman Mansoorpuri.
