Mamata’s party sweeps first by-polls in West Bengal after demonetisation

IndiaTomorrow.net,Kolkata, Nov 22: The Trinamool Congress of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, as per the leads from the last round of counting of votes this morning, is set to sweep all three constituencies that went to poll on Saturday.

In Tamluk Lok Sabha constituency, Trinamool had taken a lead of over 2.4 lakh votes after 8 rounds of counting. After four rounds of counting in Cooch Behar Lok Sabha seat, the party had taken a lead of over 1.24 lakh votes.

In the Monteshwar assembly seat, the party had taken a lead of over 76000 votes after seven rounds of counting.

The party had won all the three seats in the previous polls.

This was the first election in the state after the demonetisation came into effect on 8th Nov. Mamata has been very vocal against the decision of the central government has demanded its rollback. Last week, she hit streets in Delhi to protest against demonetisation.
