New Delhi, Dec 25: Aiming to promote peace, over hundred students with human rights activists took out a march in solidarity with the victims of Aleppo genocide here at Jantar Mantar on Saturday. Paying homage to the lives lost in Aleppo city and other regions of Syria during Syrian crises, they urged to the international community to come forward to aid the civilians and establish peace there.

The march was called by Roshni Gulati, an ex-student of Delhi Public School, RK Puram joined by many students and civil society members.

“Our hearts have ached for a long time, every time we see an article in our news feed about the skyrocketing death toll. Today it is Aleppo, tomorrow it will be Idlib or some other place. No one deserves to be uprooted and thrown away like worthless flesh. The root of everything is greed and hatred. As we march today, we wouldn’t shout slogans against Assad or against the rebels or against any terrorist group or organization. They are mere pawns of a larger problem. We walk in solidarity against hatred, against cruelty and against destruction. Peace will prevail”, Gulati said while addressing on the occasion.

Speaking to IndiaTomorrow.net, Roshni Gulati said, “We all know that since 2011 genocide is continue in Syria. In the tussle of political powers, civilians are suffering. We don’t care who is doing what, we are concerned about the common people there.”

Expressing solidarity with common civilians suffered in Aleppo during Syrian crises, they raised slogans – “Save Aleppo-Save Syria, Kill hatred not Human”.

In nearly six years of Syrian crises around 4 lakh people have been killed and millions of people have been displaced. Lakhs of Syrians have migrated to Europe. Recently, the eastern part of Aleppo, the second largest city of Syria witnessed a massive bloodshed in the war between the Syrian president Bashar Al- Assad supporting forces and Free Syrian Army along with terrorist groups.

Speaking over complex situation in Syria, the chairman of International Human Rights Organisation (IHRO), Dr. Nem Singh Premi said, “Everyone is aware of the situation in Syria. Save humanity is not just a slogan. Everyone in the world is connected to it.”

“UN should take step to stop brutalities carrying out there without favoring to anyone and People should be aided more and more,” he urged.

Syrian Crises and Aleppo aftermath of war

The civil war in Syria broke out six years ago when peaceful demonstrations started by the rebels against Syrian President Bashar Al- Assad regime in 2011. In the same year, defectors from Assad’s Army announced the formation of Free Syrian Army (FSA), and soon after they began to receive shelter in Turkey. US supported the rebels against Bashar Al-Assad, while Russia backed the Assad.

The results of this regime change and power game were disastrous as the anti-Assad campaign was soon taken over by the Islamic State.

Besides the Islamic State, as many as 140 groups also waged war against the government. These include the FSA backed by western powers and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, formerly known as the Al-Nusra Front, known to be an offshoot of Al-Qaeda.

Soon the entire country turned into a theatre of a proxy war between the USA and Russia. And the common Syrians paid a heavy price for this tussle between US and Russia.

The Russian forces targeted groups supported by the USA and Arab countries. Iran also jumped on the bandwagon by sending Lebanese Hezbollah militia to fight alongside the Assad forces.

Aleppo city was Syria’s second largest city as well as economic capital with a population of 2.5 million had remained undisturbed and largely supportive of the regime until July 2012, when rebel fighters from the neighboring villages converged and penetrated into it, to which the government responded with heavy-handed, bombardments of the city.

In the early of this December an evacuation deal was finalized between Syria, Russia and Turkey for all civilians including rebels and their families to evacuate eastern Aleppo. In between ceasefire was broken which led to halt evacuation process. Though it remains unclear who broke the ceasefire. There are counter allegations from both sides.

Finally, Assad after a four years battle with opponent forces recaptured the entire Aleppo from Islamic State and rebels last week following a massive bloodshed.
