IndiaTomorrow.net,
Jaipur, April 9: The People’s Union For Civil Liberties (PUCL) has written to Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje seeking immediate arrest of all the accused of Alwar mob lynching and proper compensation to family of slain Pahlu Khan and other injured victims.

On 1st April, some Muslims were brutally beaten up on their way to Haryana from Jaipur. They had purchased some cows and calves from the Rajasthan government cattle fare in Jaipur and had valid papers from the Municipal authorities. Pahlu Khan, one of the victims, later succumbed to injuries in hospital.

“Has the law and order machinery been now handed over by the police to these cow vigilante groups,” asked PUCL adding that if “Pehlu Khan and others had violated the law, then the police should have followed due procedure to handle the crime.”

The civil rights group has demanded “Immediate arrest of all the attackers that led to the death of Pehlu Khan and all be prosecuted in the murder case.”

It also demanded Rs one crore as compensation to the nearest kin of Pehlu Khan and all the injured should be provided with Rs. 10 lakh for rehabilitation and recovery.

In its letter to the CM of Rajasthan, PUCL said Pahlu Khan was second to be lynched by cow vigilantes in last two years.

“You are well aware that this is the second case of murder caused by Cow Vigilantes. On the 30th of May 2015, Abdul Ghaffar Querishi was murdered in Birloka village of Khimsar Tehsil, Nagaur district. The 60 year old was lynched by a mob for no fault of his. Simply because the RSS network of organisations spread a false story that more than 200 cows had been slaughtered by Muslims and they had consumed the beef,” said PUCL.
