Jaipur, May 11— Several Muslim organizations jointly held a press conference here on Friday to demand registration of criminal cases against the guilty police officers for delay in filing an FIR in the Alwar gang-rape case.

“The negligence on the part of the police has been exposed in the gang-rape case of Thana Ghazi (Alwar). Registration of FIR on May 2 for the incident of April 26 is criminal negligence for which all guilty officers should be booked,” demanded Mohammad Nazimuddin, Rajasthan state president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind while addressing a press conference at the Pink City Press Club here on Friday.

An 18-year-old woman was gang-raped in front of her husband by five people and one of the culprits had even shot the crime on mobile camera.

He said that the law and order situation has worsened in the state and this is evident from the fact that in the last few days, 19 abductions, 4 murders and 11 rapes have occurred in the state, which display how emboldened criminals have become. He alleged that the state Congress government is doing little to improve law and order – the promise it made during the Assembly elections last year and came to power.

He informed the press that a joint delegation of Jamaat, Association for Protection of Civil Liberties (APCR) and Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO) met the family of the rape survivor in Thana Ghazi and took all information about the incident. They expressed their solidarity with the victim family and promised them all support in getting justice.

Besides the state Jamaat chief, the delegation had Media Secretary of the organization Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Siddiqui, APCR’s Assistant Secretary Muzammil Rizvi and SIO’s Public Relations Secretary Ahmed Qasim.

The press conference also featured APCR’s state president Adv. Paikar Farooque and general secretary Adv. Kaleem Ahmed.

The Muslim leaders demanded registration of criminal cases against all guilty police officers including the Police Superintendent, Rs 50 lakh to the victim family as compensation, government residence and job and highest punishment to the perpetrators of the crime.

They also demanded the government to provide self-defence training to girls and women in schools, colleges and villages.

Jamaat leader also said that unless man fears God, crimes cannot be checked. For this, he said, religious leaders, religious organizations and intellectuals should come up.

Meanwhile, after huge media and opposition uproar over the incident, the state Congress government has reportedly removed Police Superintendent of Alwar and suspended the station house officer of Thana Ghazi police station.
