NEW DELHI: District Magistrate of South-East Delhi district magistrate Ajay Kumar Gupta inaugurated the newly constructed Saiyid Hamid Block of The Scholar School on Monday evening.

This newly constructed three-story block has been dedicated to the memory of Saiyid Hamid, a revered educationist, social reformer, and the founding Chairman of the Human Welfare Foundation. The new block comprises a multipurpose hall and classrooms across two floors, embodying a commitment to fostering educational excellence in this community.

Saiyid Hamid, who served as the Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), was a towering figure in education and social upliftment in India. His contributions to the High-Level Committee on the Social, Economic, and Educational Status of the Muslim Community of India, widely known as the Sachar Committee, were instrumental in shaping policies to empower marginalized communities. His relentless advocacy for inclusive policies and affirmative action remains a testament to his lifelong commitment to addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by Muslims in India.

As the founding chairman of the Human Welfare Foundation, he played a pivotal role in establishing the groundwork for social empowerment initiatives under the Vision projects, aimed at transforming the lives of less privileged and marginalized communities within society.

The Human Welfare Foundation, under Vision 2026, has been at the forefront of establishing educational campuses and schools across various states in North India, including the prominent campus at Jamia Nagar in Delhi. The Foundation aims to transform these campuses into centres of excellence, providing affordable and quality education to the underprivileged sections of society, thereby fostering a future where education is accessible to all.

Established in 2010, The Scholar School in New Delhi has over 800 students and 40 trained teachers from kindergarten through 8th grade. Students excel in inter-school competitions and engage in competitive exams to sharpen their analytical and critical thinking skills. The school features a well-maintained library, smart classrooms, and a computer lab equipped with interactive digital facilities.

The event was graced by the presence of T Arif Ali, Chairman of Vision 2026, Siraj Hussain, IAS (Retd.) and Chairman of the Human Welfare Foundation, M Sajid Abdulla, General Secretary of the Human Welfare Foundation, Engr. Mohammed Salim, Trustee of the Human Welfare Trust, Principal, Ms. Mahpara Jan, Mohammed Arif, Senior Manager of the Human Welfare Foundation and other eminent personalities.

He asked the teachers and management to give a free hand to students for innovative thinking as they are the future of India. He offered help and support to the school.
