NEW DELHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) President Syed Sadatullah Husaini has vehemently condemned Israel’s airstrikes on Beirut, particularly the targeted assassination of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah.

In a media statement released on Sunday, Mr Husaini expressed his outrage. “We strongly condemn Israel for its indiscriminate and barbaric airstrikes on the Lebanese city of Beirut, which have claimed the lives of over 40 individuals, including the Hezbollah Chief, Hasan Nasrallah,” the JIH chief said.

He extended heartfelt condolences and solidarity to the people of Lebanon and all those resisting Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine and other sovereign territories, calling the aggression a “cowardly massacre and a heinous crime.”

Mr. Husaini highlighted the use of bunker-buster bombs in densely populated civilian areas to target Hezbollah’s headquarters, stating, “This action blatantly violates the Geneva Convention, further underscoring Israel’s rogue behaviour.”

Quoting Middle Eastern experts, he warned that the assassination of Nasrallah could exacerbate regional tensions and potentially ignite a broader conflict. “We express our deep concern and urge the international community and the United Nations to intervene and halt the escalating violence in the Middle East,” he stated.

The JIH leader paid tribute to the martyrs and offered prayers for their families.
