NEW DELHI:  A delegation from the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, led by General Secretary Maulana Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi, met with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu in Amravati today. The purpose of the meeting was to address the concerns of the Muslim community regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024, which is currently under consideration by the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).

During the meeting, Maulana Mujaddidi expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for advocating with TDP MPs to refer the bill to the JPC. He submitted a detailed memorandum outlining the Board’s objections to the bill, emphasizing that the Muslim community unanimously rejects it. He argued that the proposed legislation would weaken and dilute the Waqf Act, potentially leading to the usurpation of Waqf properties.

Chief Minister Naidu responded positively, expressing his ongoing support for the genuine demands of the Muslim community. He assured the delegation that the TDP MPs played a crucial role in the bill’s referral to the JPC and promised to review the memorandum thoroughly to address their concerns.

The delegation included members Maulana Md. Abu Talib Rahmani and Janab Abdul Qadeer Khan, along with several Ministers and Muslim MLAs from the TDP. The meeting lasted for approximately one hour.
