New Delhi, 04 Dec 2014: Taking a dig at the hollow slogan Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas (together with all, development for all) coined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi even without any concrete inclusive effort by his government in last six months, former chief minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar has said that no development is possible without ensuring justice to all communities.

“All regional groups, religious minorities, cultural and regional diversities should get respect and share in development. Muslims, the largest minority in India, seems to have remained secluded and not being allowed to participate in development process. Their representation in all sectors is low,” said Nitish while delivering 35th Memorial Lecture on freedom fighter and politician Bhim Sen Sachar here on Tuesday.

Nitish Kumar speaking at the event in New Delhi.

Without naming any, he criticised the hate propaganda and divisive speeches of some BJP leaders since the party came to power in the centre in May.

“Until social harmony is maintained and respect is given to all, you cannot fulfil the dream of development. Until development reaches the last man of the society, it is not development. Development of a few persons is not development of the country,” he said while speaking on the topic of “Good Governance: Development with Justice and Social Harmony” organized by Servants of the People Society headed by Admiral Nihilani. Bhim Sen Sachar, father of Justice Rajindar Sachar, was its founder member.

Bhim Sen Sachar was a prominent freedom fighter. He was companion of Mahatma Gandhi in his Quit India Movement. After independence, he was chief minister of Punjab for two terms. He also rendered his services as Ambassador of Indian in Sri Lanka before being appointed governor in some states. Bhim Sen also took part in the Jai Prakash movement against the Emergency in 1975 and was sent to jail.

The program was presided over by HK Dua, media advisor of former prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
