New Delhi, Nov 01: India’s leading Muslim organizations have demanded a judicial probe into the Bhopal jailbreak and subsequent police encounter in which eight undertrial prisoners were killed on the outskirts of the Madhya Pradesh capital on Monday.

“We are highly disturbed at the news of 8 SIMI activists being killed near Bhopal by the police. Some media reports are suggesting that it was a fake encounter as the entire episode raises a lot of uncomfortable questions…” said Mohammad Salim Engineer, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.

“We demand a high-level enquiry under the supervision of the Supreme Court to bring out all the facts about the jail break and the encounter,” Jamaat leader demanded.

Maulana Mahmood Madani, General Secretary of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind has also expressed his concern and anger over the Bhopal encounter. He said that video clips, circumstances of the encounter and other facts substantiate that it was well-staged fake encounter.

“The two videos came to the public reveal that these armless youths have been shot from a point blank,” said Maulana Madani and demanded “an independent judicial enquiry which follows harsh punishment for those officials who found involved in it.”
