Jamiat Ulema delegation to meet PM Modi today

New Delhi, May 9: A high-level delegation of Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind, one of the largest Muslim organizations in the country, will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday evening. The 25-member delegation will be led by Jamiat’s president Maulana Mohammad Usman Mansoorpuri and general secretary and former parliamentarian Maulana Mahmood Madani.

A media official from Jamiat told IndiaTomorrow.net that the delegation would express concern on the current situation in the country, particularly cow vigilantism.

“There will be 25 people in the delegation. Besides Jamiat leaders, some other eminent persons including Dr. Zahir Kazi, Prof. P A Inamdar, Prof Akhtarul Wasey and Syed Wahid Hussain Chisti from Ajmer Dargah will also be aprt of the delegation,” said Azeemullah Siddiqui, press in-charge of Jamiat.

He also said that Jamiat had sought time for the meeting.

“We had sought appointment to meet Prime Minister. On 6the April this year, Jamiat’s Working Committee had decided to meet PM and chief ministers of various states over the current situation in the country,” he informed.

Talking about the agenda of the meeting, Jamiat official said: “The current scenario of the country, particularly cow vigilantism, and communication gap between Muslims and PM Modi will be addressed.”
