NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 17—A Judicial Magistrate court at Faizabad in Ayodhya district on Monday ordered registration of a case against Iqbal Ansari, one of the main litigants in Babri Masjid case. Iqbal Ansari resides in Ayodhya.
Asking the Ramjanmabhoomi Police Station at Ayodhya to register the FIR, the court asked the police to inform it within three days about booking of the FIR.

The order by the magisterial court was issued on an application by international shooter Vartika Singh of Lucknow. A few days ago, she had visited the residence of Ansari and tried to assault him but family members of Ansari protected him. Police had taken Vartika Singh in its custody and escorted her to Lucknow.

But Vartika Singh’s advocate Sangeeta Singh, who practices in the Supreme Court, filed an application in the judicial magistrate’s court at Faizabad seeking registration of a case pertaining to sedition and other issues against Iqbal Ansari.

The state government had subsequently increased Iqbal Ansari’s security after the incident.

Meanwhile, Sant Paramhans of Tapaswi Chhavni has come in defence of Iqbal Ansari. He visited Ansari at his residence after the court order.

He told mediapersons that Iqbal Ansari was a staunch nationalist and the entire Sant Samaj was with Ansari in this case.
