OCTOBER 1: Maulana Arshad Madani, President of Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Hind, expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court’s remarks, stating that what the Supreme Court said is exactly what Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Hind has been advocating all along that there should be no mistreatment of anyone based on religion, as everyone is equal in the eyes of the law.

Maulana Madani mentioned that as distressing facts began to emerge, indicating that bulldozers were being operated on a biased basis and that a particular community was being targeted under the guise of law, Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Hind was compelled to seek justice from the Supreme Court.

The court stated that this is a secular country, and, therefore, no one can be mistreated based on religion. He expressed hope that the court’s decision would favour the poor and the victims.

He also mentioned that the Supreme Court issued a notice to the Assam government regarding the demolition of settlements in the state, which raises hopes that, God willing, there will be a ruling that is in favour of the poor and the victims. He criticized communal individuals who discriminate based on religion and gave orders to demolish without any concern.

Representing Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Hind in court were senior advocates Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, C.U. Singh, and Gaurav Agarwal. Assistant lawyers present included Advocates Sarim Naved, Shahid Nadeem, Daniyal, Arif Ali, Mujahid Ahmed, Waseef Rehman Khan, and others.
