Hyderabad, 02 April 2014: A book entitled ‘Politics of Hatred’ was released here at the Press Club on Sunday. Written by city-based academician and civil rights activist Kaneez Fathima, the book highlights how right-wing Hindu organizations and parties, since Independence of the country, have created hatred against Muslims even over their genuine issues and institutions like reservation and madrasas.

The book was released Prof. Kancha Illaiah, Director, Centre for Social Exclusion and Inclusive Studies, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU). Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Illaiah criticized selfish politics in the name of Telangana. He further said that people are silent on the attacks on Muslims and Christians since the Telangana movement started. And now it has completely turned into a Hindutva movement, he said.

He said that it is false propaganda that Islam spread by sword. He said that through his research he has come to know that it was first Indian king who was a Backward Class by caste, who converted to Islam by going all the way to Makkah, met Prophet Mohammed and accepted Islam on Prophet’s hand and expired on the way to India. Few Arabs brought him to Kerala and buried him and constructed a Masjid on his name, which was the first Masjid in India.

The launch meeting was presided by Dr. G. Nagaraju, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, Hyderabad Central University.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Lateef Mohammed Khan, Gen. Secretary, Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee, Dr. Rafat Seema and author Kaneez Fathima.

The book has been published by Indus Publication House, Hyderabad.
