NEW DELHI, MARCH 11—The Delhi Minorities Commission will probe the anti-Muslim violence that erupted in the northeast Delhi and has claimed over 55 lives so far. Dozens are still under treatment in various hospitals, many of them in a very serious condition.

In a statement, DMC said that it has constituted a 10-member fact-finding committee to probe the violence that took place in the last week of February.

The committee has to submit its findings within four months.

The committee members comprising advocates and human rights activists have been mandated by the commission to find out the cause of the violence, persons responsible behind the violence, assessment of the damage to properties and the list of victims etc.

The committee began its work from today itself.

“Hundreds of homes, shops, workshops, offices, vehicles and even a number of schools, madrasas, dargahs and mosques were attacked, looted and torched and in some cases blasted using gas cylinders,” the DMC said.

The fact-finding committee includes M.R. Shamshad, advocate-on-record, Supreme Court, as chairperson and nine members.
