Govt. transfers Rs. 2000 cr as subsidy to LPG customers accounts

New Delhi, 31 Dec 2013: In the last six months the central government has transferred Rs 2000 crores in accounts of 4 crore LPG cylinder consumers in 184 districts under the Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG (DBTL) scheme, Ministry Of Petroleum and Natural Gas has claimed.

The DBTL scheme was launched on June 1st this year with an aim to curb black marketing in the sector and provide direct subsidy to the needy people. The scheme was applicable for only 184 Adhar coverage districts. Through this scheme the subsidy on LPG cylinders has been provided directly in Adhar linked bank accounts.
