AMU initiative to sensitize young minds on green growth

Aligarh, 23 Jan 2014: With the aim of sensitizing young minds on issues pertaining to green growth and sustainable development, a two-day interactive seminar was organized at Aligarh Muslim University by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Themed “New Ideas for a New Tomorrow – Promoting Innovation and Youth Participation” the seminar is expected to witness the presence of more than 200 youths. Selected participants will get an opportunity to participate in the ‘YUVA Meet 2014’ to be held from 3-4 Feb 2014.

The two-day event of ‘New Ideas for a New Tomorrow – Promoting Innovation to Youth Participation’ was focused on Educate youth to enhance their understanding of issues concerning sustainable development and innovation, Instill a sense of responsibility and engage youth in environmental stewardship, Motivate and engage youth to play a pro-active role in addressing issues related to sustainable development, Build a network of like-minded youth to ensure a collective voice, said Dr. Rahat Abrar, Public Relations Officer.

The inaugural session on 22 Jan featured among others Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah, Pro Vice Chancellor Brigadier S Ahmad Ali and a US delegation. The Seminar witnessed some eminent speakers Prof. Parvaiz Talib, Prof. Ashok Mittal and Prof. Farooq Ahmad Dar from AMU and Ms. Livleen Kahlon and Ms. Garima Kaushik from TERI.
