New Delhi, 01 June 2014: Marking World No Tobacco Day Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Friday said that tobacco use is the worst enemy of humanity. While flagging off a caravan of 300 school students to raise awareness against consumption of tobacco, he said it is a collective responsibility of all citizens to wipe out tobacco use.

Vardhan appealed to all users of tobacco to take pledge to give up the use of tobacco in the future. He also asked all citizens to educate ill effects of tobacco consumption and motivate them to give up.

He said that use of tobacco is fatal and many families have been ruined and children become orphan due to tobacco consumption of some elders.

Appealing to the common people to raise awareness against this evil he said that India should demonstrate to the world that the country is very serious for a war against consumption of tobacco.

Vardhan advised that everyone should spend at least two minutes whenever any tobacco consumer passes by and should educate him/her about its ill-effect.

Flagging off students’ rally Vardhan stated that he was quite sure that when World No Tobacco Day comes next year lakhs of Indian citizens who consume tobacco now would have given up it.
