New Delhi, 20 July 2014: The Friday on 19 July witnessed protest demonstrations all over the world against the Israeli military operation in Gaza sending the issue in top trends on social networking site Twitter. While Hamas and Gaza were trending on Twitter in Israel around 1:45 am (India time), Saudi Arabia was sinking in festive mood ahead of Eid.
Among top 10 trends on Twitter in Saudi Arabia, there was no Gaza, Hamas, Palestine or Israel. The top three trends in the Arabian Peninsula were about Eid, night holiday and twitter. It seemed as if there was nothing happening in Gaza in its neighborhood. Other trends there were 5 Seconds of Summer, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Justin Bieber.
However, Qatar looked deeply concerned about the issue of Gaza. The topmost trend on Twitter there was تقاوم غزة (Gaza resist). Others were Gaza, Israel, Palestine, Hamas and Ramadan.
