New Delhi, 24 Sep 2014: To counter the saffron hate campaign in Uttar Pradesh, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, India’s prominent Muslim organization, has launched a Peace and Love Campaign. During the campaign, Jamaat leaders and members are meeting Hindus with a message of peace and communal harmony and holding rallies and interfaith public meetings.
The 10-day campaign started on 21st Sep with a public meeting in Saharanpur which was addressed by Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omari, national president and Mohammad Salim Engineer, national secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.
During the campaign, Jamaat has announced to hold over 50 public meetings in at least two dozen districts in Western Uttar Pradesh, including Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Bijnor, Rampur, Moradabad and Aligarh.
In the same region for last two months, Sangh Parivar, BJP and their sister outfits have been running aggressive hate campaign in the name of false propaganda of ‘Love Jihad’ and forced conversions.

BJP is believed to have run the campaign in the leadership of its firebrand parliamentarian Yogi Adityanath to polarize votes ahead of the just concluded assembly by-polls in Uttar Pradesh. But it seems voters rejected the communal polarization attempts as the BJP lost 8 of 11 seats it was holding.
On the eve of the launch of the campaign, Jamaat organized a daylong seminar on Communal Amity – Need of the hour at Rajendar Bhawan in New Delhi on 20th Sep.
Addressing the program, Jamaat chief Maulana Omari said: “India has been a centre of different religions and culture for a long time and it is not true to say that whoever lives here is Hindu but all of us are Hindustani.”
Referring to ‘Love Jihad’ propaganda, he said it is a very dirty blame on Islam.
He said there is no compulsion in Islam, and under Islamic law if a person complains to court that he /she was forced to embrace Islam then the Islamic court will send him back to his/her previous religion and punish the person who did forced conversion.
