New Delhi, 29 Oct 2014: Left parties have demanded arrest of two BJP leaders – Sunil Vaid and Ram Charan Gujrati – for their alleged role in instigating the Trilokpuri riots in the national capital.

A joint delegation of CPI-M and CPI which visited the riot-hit area spoke to over a 100 local residents who narrated their tales of horror. They found “that 5 shops were gutted in the area, all belonging to the minority community”.

“People from both sides of the divide mentioned two names instrumental in engineering the flare-up – BJP’s ex-MLA Sunil Vaid and Ram Charan Gujrati,” the delegation said in a statement. The Left leaders demanded adequate compensation and also registration of FIRs against those who burnt the shops and indulged in rioting.

“The pattern that was clear from our discussion with the local people was polarization on communal lines. This is a well-planned strategy experimented by BJP time and again for their electoral advantage,” the joint delegation of CPI(M) and CPI said in a statement after visiting Trilokpuri in east Delhi which witnessed rioting during Diwali nights after a drinking brawl.

The delegation comprised of Mohd. Salim, MP, CPI(M), Subhashini Ali, Jogendra Sharma, P M S Grewal, all Central Committee members, CPI(M), Anurag Saxena, East Delhi District Secretary, P I Ravindranathan and Maimoona Mollah among others.
