New Delhi, 19 Aug 2015: The year 2014 witnessed around 20% rise in crimes against Scheduled Castes in India. According to the latest ‘Crime in India 2014’ report of the government, a total of 47064 cases of crime against SCs were registered across the country; that is 19.42% more compared to the year 2013. The year 2013 had witnessed a 17% rise in crimes against SCs compared to the previous year.

The annual report on crime is prepared by the National Crimes Record Bureau (NCRB), a constituent of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Like previous years, country’s most populous state Uttar Pradesh has recorded highest number of cases of crime against SCs (8075 of total 47064). However, Rajasthan this year has taken the No. 2 position pushing Bihar at No. 3.
