Patna, 27 Sep 2015: Following the statement of Mohan Bhagwat, chief of Rasthriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to review reservation policy of the country, Lalu Prasad Yadav, chief of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has come down heavily on RSS terming it as a “casteist and anti-Hindu” organization.

“RSS is a rank casteist organization trying to cover-up it with fake Hindutva & development’s hidden agenda. Beware of such “BAHURUPIYA’s (impersonators),” tweeted Lalu Saturday evening.

In a recent interview to Organizer, mouthpiece of the saffron group, Bhagwat had called for review of the reservation policy.
“Interest groups are formed because we have certain aspirations in democracy. At the same time, we should remember that through interest groups we should not strive to address those aspirations at the cost of others. We believe, form a committee of people genuinely concerned for the interest of the whole nation and committed for social equality, including some representatives from the society, they should decide which categories require reservation and for how long,” Bhagwat said.

It is interesting to note that same Mohan Bhagwat had supported reservation policy in Sep 2014.

RJD chief and former chief minister of Bihar Lalu questioned the intention of RSS about general Hindus particularly Dalits and backward classes.

“RSS is not only casteist but also anti-Hindu organization. If it were true sympathizer of Hindus, it would have never talked about finishing the constitutional right of reservation granted to 90% of backward, Dalit, deprived and poor Hindus,” said Lalu.

He also asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat if the poor, suppressed and neglected are not Hindus.

Lalu, whose RJD is fighting the current Assembly elections in the state in alliance with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United and Congress party, continued attacking RSS

“The agenda of RSS is clear. For 10% caste Hindus, they want to snatch the rights of 90% backward, Dalit, poor and suppressed Hindus in order to exploit them,” said Lalu.

Lalu’s strong reaction against RSS seems to appease Hindus of backward classes who are enjoying reservation.

Of the 243 candidates fielded by the grand alliance comprising RJD, JDU and Congress, 134 candidates are from backward classes and 40 from Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes – all come under reservation category.
