MIM debuts in UP with its candidate Kailash Gautum winning in Azamgarh

Azamgarh, 02 Nov 2015: The All India Majlis-e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) of Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday opened its electoral account in Uttar Pradesh with party candidate Kailash Gautam winning in the district development council of Azamgarh – the Lok Sabha constituency of the eastern Uttar Pradesh district is represented by the ruling Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.

For the last couple of years, the Akhilesh Yadav government has denied Hyderabad MP and MIM chief Owaisi the permission to entre the Azamgarh district.

According to reports, trends suggest that the MIM is also leading in some wards at other places. These include wards 3 and 29 in Balrampur, ward 32 in Azamgarh and ward 12A in riot-hit Muzaffarnagar.

State-wise, the Samajwadi Party has taken a lead while the BJP is trailing.
