Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has condemned air-strikes on Syria by European, American and Russian forces, which has led to high civilian casualties in the war ravaged West Asian nation. It also came down heavily on terrorist organization ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) for perpetuating violence on the hapless citizens.

An estimated three lakh people, including women and children have been killed in the conflict that started four years ago. Calling for a halt on aerial strikes undertaken by western powers, the Jamaat said that a peaceful solution to the conflict is the need of the hour.

“Jamaat-e-Islami Hind strongly condemns the excessive use of force by the European, Russian and American forces in Syria which has been resulting in a lot of civilian casualties,” an official of the Muslim body told a press meet here.

Innocent civilians have been caught in the cross fire and are being killed in thousands, while western nations, ISIS and fighters loyal to local warlords continue to battle for supremacy in the country.

“Jamaat is strictly against the terrorism of the ISIS and condemns the violence they perpetuate on innocents and the unarmed. However, the retaliatory air strikes against ISIS strongholds by the western powers in Syria are resulting in a lot of civilian casualties, in which many women and children are being killed,” another official of the Muslim body said.

Jamaat also addressed the issue of rising intolerance in the country and welcomed the stand taken “by writers, poets, artists, litterateurs, social activists and intellectuals from all walks of life against the rising intolerance in society.” This climate of hatred and intolerance has been gaining ground from the parliamentary elections of 2014 till date.

Jamaat also expressed concern that people who were behind the demolition of historic Babri Masjid in 1992 are still walking free without being punished for their crimes. It is hopeful that “the judicial verdict will go in favor of Muslims as their claim to the Babri Masjid is just and backed by legal evidence.”
