Hyderabad, 14 Dec 2015: One of India’s largest Muslim organizations has expressed concern at attempts to curb cultural freedom of religious minorities in the country.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, in a resolution adopted at the end of its four-day national conclave here on Monday, expressed “its deep concern over the policies and action being taken to end the cultural freedom of minorities and weaker sections, to neutralize their educational institutions and the efforts to saffronise the education system.”

Jamaat demanded the government to “avoid such unhealthy initiatives and should instead grant the rights to all sections of society especially the minorities provided by Indian constitution and international laws.”

Jamaat also expressed concern on growing intolerance in the country and blamed the government for it.

“The convention opines that communal elements got strengthened after the ascent of BJP to power at the centre…the fascist elements are responsible for prevailing unpleasant atmosphere in the country.”
