New Delhi, Jan 29: Christian leaders have strongly condemned and rejected the move of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to float an outfit for the Christian community on the pattern of its Rashtriya Muslim Manch. In mid-December last year, RSS had reportedly held a meeting allegedly with some Christian religious leaders here in Delhi as preparations for launching a platform for the community.

“We and RSS can never join hands. How can we meet the people who are hell-bent on destroying our community and the country in the name of a religion?
We are strongly against their move to float an outfit among Christian community. We condemn their move,” said Minakshi Singh, a Christian leader.
“A person from among our community is trying to eat into the community. We have warned him and going to launch a big movement against him. If needed, we won’t hesitate to take the issue to the court and will condemn it. We won’t allow it to happen,” said she who runs an NGO Samarpan.

Senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar, who is also ‘Margdarshak’ (guide) for the Rashtriya Muslim Manch since its inception 10 years ago, is said to be behind the move for launching the Christian outfit. Though RSS has not formally announced the name of the outfit, media reports say it could be Rashtriya Isai Manch on the lines of Rashtirya Muslim Manch.

AC Michael, Coordinator, United Christian Forum also said that RSS actually wants to divide the Christian community and for this purpose it is creating the Isai Manch.
“RSS speaks one thing and does something else. We cannot believe that these people want to do something good for the community. Obviously, there is something else in their hearts. The way they divide people, they will do the same with Christian community,” said Michael, who has served as Member of Delhi Minority Commission.

“If an incident occurs tomorrow, we will condemn it but they will had this group Isai Manch say everything is ok and it was an internal issue. They (RSS) are creating it for their own self-defence, and nothing else,” he further said.

However, Indresh told The Economic Times that on 17 Dec, “4-5 Archbishops, 40-50 Reverend Bishops from across 10 to 12 states met and it was decided to develop a movement.”
