New Delhi May 26: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student union president Kanhaiya Kumar alleged right wing student organization ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) and National news channel Zee News to ‘conspire against JNU students in order to defame the university’.

“Once again the ABVP and Zee News tried to conspire against the JNU students in order to defame the university. Last night around 1 am an ABVP activist invited a Zee News reporter and camera person inside the campus. They were caught by the residents of Brahmaputra hostel while they were trying to leave the hostel premises. The Reporter and Camera person had illegally entered the hostel without any prior permission from the administration or the hostel warden,” Kumar wrote Thursday on his Facebook account about what happened at 1 o’clock am in the campus.

He also accused ABVP activist and Zee News reporter of ‘misbehaving’ and telling ‘lie’ over questioning about their motives to enter the university.

“The media is strictly not allowed in the hostel premises and the campus without prior information. While being questioned about their motives for entering a hostel at such an hour, they started misbehaving with the residents as well as other female students present outside the hostel. They blatantly lied about the memory card in the camera and once it was found they changed their tactics,” Kumar who was attacked many times by right wing group ativist, further wrote.

Accusing Zee News and ABVP activist of maligning the name of JNU, Kumar calls this an attack on student’s privacy.

“Zee News and ABVP together have been trying to malign the name of this institution repeatedly. We condemn this attack on our privacy and personal space. Their conspiracy to create new allegations on false grounds and create propaganda against JNU has been brought to light once again. We continue to thwart them against every attack on our university and we will not accept any such behavior by these TRP-driven media houses to defame our campus,” He furthermore wrote

Kumar along with other JNU students was arrested over allegation of anti-national activity in the campus on ground of a video of pro-Afzal Guru Event of 9 February that was played by several TV channels including Zee News. ABVP had complained with JNU administration about the pro-Afzal guru event. Since then, there is a tussle between right wing group and JNU students.
