New Delhi, Sep 19: Eminent Muslim organizations have strongly condemned the ghastly terror attack at an army base camp in Uri town of Jammu and Kashmir. While expressing grief over the killing of 18 soldiers in the attack, they said they stand with the bereaved families of the jawans. They, however, did not support the war hysteria between India and Pakistan.

“We strongly condemn the cowardly attack on the army camp by the terrorist and stand with the bereaved families. We wish to reiterate that these cowardly acts will not cow down our nation,” said Navaid Hamid, national president of All India Muslim Majlis-e Mushawarat (AIMMM), while addressing an urgently-called press conference here on Monday to condemn the Sunday Uri attack.

He advised maturity at this time of national crisis while ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to book.

“We need to reiterate that in this national crisis every Indian should respond with utter maturity. It is high time that the perpetrators of terror acts should not go scot free but at same time we would be trapped if war hysteria is aroused. The attack has taken at a time when Kashmir valley is reeling under grave crises for more than seventy days,” he said.

In a separate statement, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind also strongly condemned the terror attack at the army camp and expressed grief over the killing of Jawans in the attack.

He said such attacks will hit the India-Pakistan relations.

“Such incidents will further sour the relations between India and Pakistan and will not resolve the issues…Rhetoric and hard statements from both sides on this occasion will further complicate the issues, and this will ultimately harm the people in both the countries,” said Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, national president of Jamaat.

“Showing wisdom and sincerity, therefore, concerned parties should use the path of dialogue and consultation in order to resolve the issues. This path can only ensure establishment of peace,” he said.

Meanwhile, the central government while avoiding any knee-jerk reaction over the Uri attack has reportedly decided to isolate Pakistan diplomatically at the international platforms. Prime Minister Narendra Modi headed a high-level meeting over the issue here Monday afternoon.
